New Year Day in Scotland is always a bit of a doldrum day – the party is the night before (ours was as wonderful as usual, thanks to Handsome's cooking and the wonderful company we had), and the guests have all gone home. Everyone sleeps late, after all, people didn't even start leaving until one o'clock in the morning… (and that was because of the baby). And then you wake up and there's still all the clearing up to be done. So, by the time I'd finished that, and done other stuff, like writing shopping lists for all the stuff that got used up, and going for a walk, because my Resolution is to get some exercise every day, it was getting dark, and it was time to go and curl up in front of the fire with Handsome, and eat left-overs for dinner!
