Mind you, the water was pretty murky and a bit smelly too

All that snow (or at least most of it) was washed away by heavy overnight rain and it had to go somewhere…

I've never seen this much water at the Falls of Clyde, even when they have 'Waterfall Weekends' and shut down the power station. The water was thundering through, it actually felt as though the ground was shaking, and the noise was incredible.

We walked up as far as Bonnington Linn, and then slithered back again – the paths were very icy.

I hope it will not rise any higher.  Goodness…it looks ready to flood the area.  I wasn’t thinking about the cold until you mentioned the icy paths.  Wow…you ventured out.  Good for you.  I probably would have curled up with a good book and missed the beautiful water.
