We were walking with other people's children the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Group at Carron Valley today. It was bitterly cold but very beautiful. However, there was absolutely no problem working out where the kids had gone; all we had to do was follow the footprints (and the shrieks when they broke through the ice crust on top of mud in the fire break).

All my pictures are very blue (I probably should find and use the 'snow' setting on my camera), but it really did look like that, and the views from the top of Meikle Bin were amazing. You could see lots and lots of mountains with snow on top – our mountain identification needs work, I have no idea which was which.

The only major disappointment of the day was discovering on our return to the car park that the toilets were closed due to being frozen. Hardly a surprise, but definitely a bit of a problem considering how much soup and coffee I had drunk in an attempt to keep warm – we had to drop in on Mama and Papa on the way home to use their facilities.

Beautiful pictures!!  Wow.  And I enjoyed your story as well.  How do you do the line through words?  I don’t know how to do that.  Frozen toilets are terrible, especially when you have lots of children with you!!
