finally he has a bed to sleep in, on his own floor

Saturday was a truly moving experience for us… we moved Hairy into his new flat in Glasgow. Finally, he is sleeping on his own floor, rather than other peoples'. He seems quite happy with the flat, and apart from the 'unfurnished' bit, we're quite happy too. And I know where he is at night now, which is a big relief.

We spent an unnecessarily long time in Ikea, finding essentials like a bed and a chest of drawers and a table and some bits and pieces to cook with. And, come to think of it some in-essentials like lamp shades, but I do think bare bulbs look dreadful. The kitchen comes with cooker and fridge and washing machine (which he did not know how to use but does now). He and Blossom were very proud that they had managed to salvage a rather nice desk, with drawers, so that was one less piece of furniture to buy.

I was stunned at Hairy, Blossom and Mouse's complete inability to put together Ikea furniture without instruction (and on occasion even with instruction), but we managed to get there in the end, although Blossom did have to give Hairy a lesson on how to hang his clothes onto the airer. I kept very quiet and let her get on with it, after all it's nagging when your mother tells you but it's caring when your girlfriend does.

Then we took them food shopping, dropped them off and headed to Mama and Papa's for dinner – about two hours late.

Mouse may or may not have stolen appropriated some more Ikea pencils. I don't want to know…

I am a bit behind here, having just joined your neighborhood recently.  Do you mind telling me how old Hairy, Blossom, and Mouse are?  Are Hairy and Mouse your kids?  I know that Blossom is the girlfriend.  Thanks.  I really enjoyed your story about how they could not put the Ikea furniture together and how much you had to buy to get him set up in his place.  I am always shocked at the expense of that as well!!  So glad you know where he is now and that you have one less thing to worry about.  Hope you find your pencils, lol!

Hairy and Blossom are both nineteen (and at university together in Glasgow), Mouse is fifteen, and still very much at home.

Thank you, Jerusha.  That helps me understand your stories more easily 🙂
